POLITICS: ‘House Of Reps Is The Most Corrupt Arm Of Government In Nigeria Today’ – Jibrin
Embattled former Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Mr. Abdulmumin Jibrin, has described the legislative House as the most corrupt arm of government in the country.
Jibrin stated this on Sunday while reviewing the anti-corruption crusade, which he launched against the Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, and three other principals of the legislature.

We cannot nullify election of Benue Assembly Speaker – INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday said that it has no Locus Standi to withdraw the Certificate of Return of a validly elected candidate representing any constituency.
The commission stated this in a position paper it presented to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Public Petitions following a petition from a Law firm, J.I Abaagu & Co, on behalf of the people of Ushongo Local Government against the member representing Ushongo State Constituency and Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly.
PDP holds convention, extends Makarfi committee’s tenure
The People Democratic Party (PDP) has extended the tenure of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee of the party by one year.
Delegates of the party, who gathered at the Rivers State PDP Secretariat on Wednesday, took the decision as a result of the seal-off of the Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt; venue of the party’s botched National Convention.
The extension of the tenure of the Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee of the PDP also came on the heels of the suspension of the election of national officers of the party.
Lawyers to boycott courts over colleague’s arrest in Makurdi
Members of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Makurdi Branch have resolved to boycott appearances in courts until one of their members, Barr. Terna Jirgba, who was arrested or abducted by heavily armed gunmen, is released from detention.
The NBA, Makurdi Branch expressed the worries that more than forty-eight hours after the whisking away of their member by unknown gunmen believed to be security agents, no security agency has launched an investigation to the matter, even though reports have been made to them.

Unknown gun men said to be numbering about four have killed chairmanship aspirant for Buruku local government and lecturer with the University of Mkar, Aondosoo Winifred Tondo in the earlier hours of Thursday.
University of Mkar, is a Christian institute located in Mkar, Gboko town in Benue state and it is owned by the NKST church worldwide.

POLITICS: Again, Justice Abang suspends PDP’s convention

Again, a Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Justice Okon Abang on Monday stopped the Peoples Democratic Party from going ahead with its convention.
Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the party had slated Thursday August 17, for its national convention, but Abang during the proceedings that lasted eight hours on Monday ruled that the interim order would subsist till the motion filed by the Ali Modu Sheriff-led faction seeking an interlocutory injunction against the convention is heard and determined.
POLITICS: Jibrin takes budget insertions allegations against Dogara to diplomatic community
Abdulmumin Jibrin on Monday said that he has commenced briefing the diplomatic community about the alleged crimes involving Speaker Yakubu Dogara and others.
The Chairman, House of Representatives Appropriation Committee, stated that in the next few days he will comprehensively brief the British High Commission and the American, French and German embassies about his corruption allegation against Speaker Dogara and 12 members of the House.

STRIP GOVERNORS OF IMMUNITY TO REDUCE CORRUPTION - TSAV
A former Lagos State commissioner of police, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, has said that corruption will drastically reduce in the country if governors are stripped of constitutional immunity.
Tsav, in an interview with newsmen in Makurdi, said the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari was doing its best for the development of the country
