Lobi Stars victory 2 – 0 win over Giwa FC

Two first half goals were enough to seal victory for Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi against Giwa FC of Jos in a week 17 match of the Nigeria Professional Football League played yesterday at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi.
Lobi took an early lead when Tony Okpotu converted from the penalty spot after a Giwa FC player handed the ball in the box.
A minute before the break, Emma Ajia’s strike from close range delivered all three points to the 2015 Federation Cup finalist.

The match was however marred by acts of indiscipline from the home side.  First, Lobi Coach, Godwin Uwua was sent to the stands for persistently arguing with the referee, while midfielder, Raphael Ayagwa saw red in second half extra time for a deliberate foul off the ball.
Lobi’s fine start to the season has earned them 5th place after 17 games with 28 points.
The Ortom boys will next face Nassarawa FC away in a middle-belt derby on Wednesday.
